Principal Function: The Custodial Team lead is responsible for ensuring the daily custodial tasks are accomplished by the cleaning team in the Museum Center, Clowes Common, Bayt, Amenities, Facilities Building restrooms, Chinese House/Bluffs, Necessary and Featherston.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

Team Lead Responsibilities:

  • Orients and trains new custodial staff on both day and evening shifts.
  • Assists with scheduling assignments as needed.
  • Flexes schedule to ensure staff on both day and evening shifts are appropriately monitored.
  • Ensures custodial daily checklists are completed by staff to quality control standards.
  • Assists in handling emergent custodial needs and requests.
  • Assists in addressing guest complaints and/or concerns expressed.
  • Helps maintenance staff in room setup and preparation as necessary.
  • Coordinates custodial teams at large programming events and F&B events.
  • Fills in for absent custodial staff as necessary.
  • Participates in organizational committees and task forces as appropriate.
  • Helps preform monthly preventive maintenance on custodial equipment.
  • Will help with administrative responsibilities as directed.

Custodian Responsibilities:

  • Clean and empty trash in the Museum Center offices, restrooms, and work areas, public areas, break room, putting trash into dumpster, and maintaining the restrooms. This includes keep the other buildings up to date as directed including Kaivacing every single bathroom once a week.
  • Clean, polish, and disinfect lavatories, fixtures, urinals, commodes, mirrors, remove handprints from door glass, and replenish supplies in all restrooms.
  • Provide support for Conner Prairie’s recycling program.
  • Maintain the restrooms outside the visitor’s entrance/exit to Clowes Commons, Bayt, Necessary, Amenities, Facilities Building, and Featherston as well.
  • Maintain the entrances to the Museum Center: front doors, main entrance and employee entrance areas.
  • Keep all supply rooms at the Museum Center, Bayt, Necessary, Amenities, Facilities Building and President’s House stocked.
  • Uphold the mission and policies of Conner Prairie.
  • Maintain attendance standards.
  • Encourage and perform actions that create a positive working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with others.
  • Adhere to Conner Prairie Conduct and Work Rules.
  • Practice safe work habits.

  • The ability to operate equipment and machinery for grounds maintenance is required.

  • The ability to speak, read and write in English is required. Spanish is desired.
